Merry Christmas!

It's Christmas Eve and the Heyer household is busy busy busy!
Jason and Shannon ran out and bought me flowers to have on our table tonight.

We are having a quiet little family night with FONDUE!   Oh boy does this bring back a lot of memories from my childhood as well as Greg's.
His mom gave us the recipe for their favorite Fondue Italiano and I am also making a classic Cheese fondue as well as Chocolate fondue for dessert.
Alicia and I are making Oreo Truffles for dessert at my Brother in Law's house tomorrow where we will enjoy Becky's delicious Prime Rib!

I just love Christmas and all the wonderful memories that are relived through traditions,  like Bubble Cake made in the evening and then baked Christmas morning,  and new memories made with each passing year!

May your Holidays be filled with wonderful family moments!

Happy Holidays from our home to yours!

Time flies when you are having fun!

I can not believe that I haven't posted anything since the beginning of November!   Where have I been you ask?  Well,  we had a wonderful family vacation to Florida to see my parents and brother for Thanksgiving.  It was so nice to spend that time with them.

We even got to the Animal Kingdom where Shannon met the Big Mouse himself!

I spent most of November, before and after the vacation, creating crafty goodness for the Last Best Craft Fair here in town.   It was hugely successful and I had so much fun selling my Club Scrap creations and even some of my own!

And finally, the past few weeks have been spent creating more projects for Christmas presents!    And those we will save for another post (after the holidays ;)

Glad to be back!    Thanks for stopping by!

Jen's Oct. Sketch Challenge

I just squeaked by with my sketch challenge card this month.   A little loop hole (Jen hasn't posted the Nov. sketch yet) allowed me to submit this to the monthly sketch challenge thread over on the Club Scrap Message Boards!   We really have had so much fun with these challenges!   Head on over there and check out the amazing cards submitted in October.

Frame it Up!

This is one of the projects we made at Club Scrap Retreat!   So happy with how this project came out.   We made the frame and everything!   Fun!!    Photos are of my 3 kids.

Busy busy busy!

Here is one of the projects we made at Club Scrap's Retreat this year.
Tricia taught a cool little envelope book called the Butterfly book and this is a version of that book I made using papers from the Ornamental collection (CS DEC 2009).
I also used the CS ornament stencil to create one of the embellishments on the front belly band.
The buttons and holly are from my stash.

Senior Portrait layout

Hi everyone,

My son Jason is graduating from high school in June and this is his Senior Portrait taken by a friend at the beach.   I used all Club Scrap paper and embellishments to create the page.   The layout design is also one inspired by a layout recipe card from the Aromatherapy CS monthly kit.

The scrolls were cut on my Silhouette SD from sticker paper from Staples.

Thanks for stopping by.

Back home..

... from Wisconsin where I had a fantastic time at my Club Scrap Retreat!   We had so many laughs and made so many cool projects!

I will post some of the cool things we made in a few weeks when all the folks who are doing Retreat in a Box have received their goodies!    Club Scrap always likes to surprise us!

One of the highlights was getting to meet and room with Dayna Kuenstler,  a virtual friend for over 3 years!   So fun to meet in person after all those years.    This photo was taken at Club Scrap Headquarters for Champagne Shopping!   What fun to walk up and down the aisles of the warehouse where they pack and ship our monthly kits!

Special thanks to Club Scrap for all their hard work and dedication and making our time with them an absolute pleasure!!

Sea Shell Card

Hi everyone!   Sorry for my absence.

I have been preparing some swap pages and puzzle piece altered art for the upcoming Club Scrap 2011 October Retreat!   So excited to be going again this year.   It is so great to see everyone after chatting with them on the message boards for so long.    I have completed all these projects so I finally had time to try something new.

My good friend and sis in law Becky had a birthday yesterday and I wanted to make her something special.   I found inspiration from the Tattered Angels Designers Blog and couldn't wait to make one.    Living on Cape Cod I went in search of these usually very plentiful sea clam shells at my town beach.    Unfortunately we just had Hurricane Irene come for a visit and the beach was wiped clean.   Luckily my neighbor came to my rescue as her kids had collected a bunch at their gram's beach and they let me have some!   Thanks Mason and Jillian. :)

I used Glimmer mists in Caribbean Blue, Bahama Blue, Lemon Meringue, and Sapphire on the sea shell as well as on the chipboard pieces that are the pocket and the card base.   I also sprayed some die cut shells from a Sizzlet set with the same combination of mists.

The edges of all the chipboard, the free Mermaid clip art image,  the banner (made of kraft paper packing material) stamped with a Club Scrap Gimme A Ring happy birthday wood mount stamp,  and the die cuts are inked with Vintage Photo distress ink.

I really appreciate you stopping by and would love to hear about something new you have been working on!

Trying out a new technique.

While playing with the Gelatos,  I decided to try using the color directly from the crayon like applicator onto a make up sponge and rubbing onto a stencil to create the design.   The outer image is created by rubbing the Gelato directly onto the stencil and spritzing with water.  Then you squish your paper into the color.   I love the watery look of the Purple Metallic Gelato and how the reverse of the stencil is revealed.

I used the Papillon Stencil for this technique.   Love this 2 part stencil, details and the outline.   2 stencils for the price of 1!!

Thanks for looking.

It is very quiet here....

... so what better way to spend the day than with card making!!

I am a member of the Maples Cabin over at Club Scrap's PSL Summer Camp.
This weeks challenge involves Art mediums and Stencils.   I used different art mediums to create the panels for my cards.  Faber Castell Gelatos which have been so fun to experiment with different techniques including Crayon Resists and watercolor.

Thanks for stopping by!

All stamps and papers are from Club Scrap!

Welcome to the Club Scrap Die Cutter's Blog Hop!!

Today we are celebrating our love of Club Scrap and how we use our favorite die cutting machines.
I have used several in my day,  started out small with a Sizzix Side Kick that I got as a Mother's Day present from my mom about 8 years ago.   Recently moved up to a Sizzix Big Shot at this years birthday so I could cut larger / thicker materials and use Tim Holtz's new line of Sizzix dies and embossing folders.
Then my hubby and I were looking at the Silhouette and we both felt that this type of machine would be such a great addition to my die cutting products.   Love this machine and how I can cut any true type font,  I can hand draw any image or scan an image to import into the software and then cut that shape out on my awesome Club Scrap papers!   It runs like a dream and the amount of detail is amazing.

So here is the piece I have decided to share with all of you!

The first time I used my Silhouette,  I went big!   I decided to cut the most intricate design I could get my hands on LOL!   Crazy I know,  but I really want to see what this machine could do.   So I used my $10.00 gift card (came with purchase of the machine) at the Silhouette store (accessible thru the software) and bought a few things that I thought I would get the most mileage out of.   I couldn't resist these lace patterns one in Butterflies and one in Snowflakes.   I cut it using standard copy paper and it came out great.   Down side.... tons of tiny little pieces I had to get off my sticky carrier sheet.  Fun stuff,  live and learn.   Got some great tips from fellow Silhouette users on how to get those off in a jiffy!

I had recently purchased some of my favorite 8.5 x 11 Club Scrap papers from the Pure and Simple kit.  These highly textured (looks like leather) and awesome colored papers fit my project perfect and I set out to create a Chain Stitch book.    I had seen Tricia Morris (the co owner of Club Scrap) do a video tutorial of this book years ago while watching Craft TV Weekly (videos are available HERE) and always wanted to try it.   So I reviewed the instructions and the video and made an extra large version 8x8 of my own which the lace die cut with butterflies for the cover embellishment.   I used my Club Scrap Book Binding/Padding/Laminating glue to adhere the very delicate lace piece to the front cover.  I spread the glue over the entire black cover and gently (and very carefully) laid my lace piece on top.   I love the way the white pops off the black background.   I am planning on using this book for a garden journal.

I am super happy with how it all came together and hope you like it.

Please be sure to hop around to all my friends blogs so you can see which die cutter is their favorite to use with Club Scrap papers and products!

Hop on over to Connie's blog next!!
Bloggers really appreciate your comments so please feel free to leave us some love!!

Mother's Day Mini from Shannon

My youngest daughter Shannon (6) created this little book for me for Mother's Day.
I found it so clever how she added the drawings after the book was together and how accurate her drawings were on both sides of the book.   She is quite the little artist!
Thanks Shannon for this special little book!   I love you!

Happy Mother's Day!

I wouldn't be celebrating today if it were not for these 3 kiddos or for this woman!
Thanks Mom for showing me what a real mom should be!

Hope all my "Mom" friends and family have a wonderful day!

Squirrely Art Blog Pinwheel Challenge

Nancy's Squirrely Art Blog has challenged us with another cool TJN technique!   I just love how this came out and you have to check out the others who take on this challenge as well!

I used Club Scrap's Cyprus teal cardstock,  Nature's Wonders vellum, and little luna moth UM stamp from Great outdoors dusted with gold Perfect Pearls.
I created the black paper with Acrylic paints and bubble wrap.

I punched the vellum with a small flower punch from my stash with a black rhinestone center.

Grungy Monday #5

I am so glad I have been able to create some art based on the challenges given to us by Linda at Studio L3! I have wanted to create this layout based on a technique I originally saw Tim Holtz do on the Carol Duval Show many years ago.    And finally I have been able to do it.

My Auntie Judy came across these antique glasses in a very old case in my grandparents things.    I knew when I saw them that this layout technique would show case them so well.     My great grandfather could have been the one who actually wore them.   I also received several other things from my aunt that were associated with this man that I never had the opportunity to know.    For my 40th birthday,  she gave me a garnet ring he had designed and made.   He had given it to her and now she was giving it to me!   I was thrilled and wear it every day.    Not only did he make beautiful jewelry,  but he also wrote a song which my aunt made a copy of and I reprinted it onto paper smaller so it would fit on my 12x12 page.

The page is created on 12x12 black foam core and the papers and embellishments used are from the Let Me Count the Ways Club Scrap kit.

Grungy Monday #4

Linda at Studio L3 has created some fun Tim Holtz inspired Challenges called Grungy Monday.
We used techniques involving texture fades embossing folders and distress inks.   Check out Tim's awesome tutorials here!

I used some Club Scrap papers from the Musical Interlude collection punched with a Martha Stewart flower punch.  I used some glitter glue to add the flower center.
Idea ology tissue tape and ticket are embellishments.
I stamped the background using Club Scrap unmounted rubber stamp from the Blossom collection.
